GET STARTED WITH RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING — A MINI WORKSHOP
Taught by Susan Torntore
Saturday, March 9, 2024,
9:00-5:00 Mount Vernon Senior Center

A 1-day Rigid Heddle Workshop, max 8 people, with materials kit for purchase

The rigid heddle loom is a simple two shaft loom that is affordable, portable, practical, and easy to learn. It is versatile for weaving a wide range of projects—scarves, bags, placemats, table runners, tea or dish towels, fabric for garments, and wall hangings. We will make a wool sampler to learn easy warping methods and several weaving techniques to get you going. We’ll cover design ideas, project planning, selecting and working with different types of yarn, managing selvedges, and finishing techniques. Bring your own loom or borrow one from a guild member. We will also discuss the various rigid heddle looms on the market today, if you are thinking about buying one. Designed for beginner skill level with no previous rigid heddle weaving experience necessary or as a refresher level with lots of tips and tricks.
