Oct. 8  - The Beginning or Intro session will allow new computer drafters the time and patience to comfortably enter the world of weave drafting at minimal cost and with the confidence to start designing immediately.  I use FiberWorks PCW and participants can use a ‘demo’ download at no cost, though the tools used are fairly universal for most drafting programs. We will review basic tools, then develop templates and apply patterns and colors in the first 2-hour session. This session is especially relevant to 4-8 shaft weavers.
Oct 15
- The second 2-hour session will introduce utilizing designs from other resources and applying the concepts of turning a draft, networking, and use of the intermediate tools for more advanced work.  4-8+ shafts

Oct 22 - The last 2-hour session will utilize upper-level tools like profiling and block substitution, digitizing, telescoping, and interleaving and other fun stuff.  4-8+ shafts

Participants will have time to practice and play between these sessions so that they can be prepared to make the best use of their newly acquired talents.

All three sessions are open to anyone who'd like to design their own drafts or use drafts already available to expand, contract, change colors, add tabby, block substitute switching to allow for more efficient threading and treadling.

Participants will download a demo version of Fiberworks PCW
SILVER for the class unless they already have one.  The download is free. I’m happy to assist individuals well before the class time with this.  You may download the BRONZE version however some of the 'fancy' things in Sessions 2&3 will only be available in the Silver version...and both are free as a demo.      Participants should consider having one computer to view the lessons and a second for drafting concurrently, or to use a large monitor with both programs open.  Additionally, participants can gather in one locale to watch the monitor while working on their own laptops.  If you are a MAC user, you'll download the MAC version and there are maybe 5-6 tools in the menu that differ from the windows version, but we can usually figure it out.  You will also need a computer or laptop with a mouse.  NO fingers here.

I provide handouts for all three sessions and will also send out the WIFs (Weaving Interface Files) before the sessions so that we can work on them together in class.  When you receive the WIFs you won't be able to save them to your computer if you are working on a DEMO version.  Demo's don't allow for saving or printing. With a demo version you'll be able to open the files for the class and keep them open until we are ready to use them, so best to do this just before a session.

WEAVING KROKBRAGD

November 21,22,23

In this 3-day Zoom workshop, participants explore the history, structure, and common motifs of krokbragd. Author of Krokbragd: How to Design & Weave and Krokbragd Patterns, Debby Greenlaw, shares tips for color and yarn selection, selvage management, and finishing techniques. Participants weave a krokbragd sampler during the workshop.

The workshop is presented via Zoom, with morning and afternoon sessions of 2 1⁄2-3 hours each (5-6 hours per day for all three days.) The instructor’s Zoom account is used for the workshop presentations. The sessions will be recorded and available to registered participants for one month following the live event.
